Priscilla Wilson and Janice Lymburner have been creating and selling gourds in North Georgia for 30 years and they have figured out how to use gourds as a clay mold.
Watch how their creativity takes gourds in a new direction. Also, take a close look at their store and how the gourds are arranged in little groupings. There are lots of visual ideas here.
There are two buildings to visit. The first building is a museum where you can see how musical instruments, pottery, and even a cash register were made from gourds. They have one of the largest gourds ever grown on display as well.
What happens when you use gourds as clay molds to create pottery?
Their pottery is created by using a gourd as a mold. Then they glaze the interior but leave the outside natural so you can see the gourd texture.
Since the interior is glazed, you can eat off them so a place setting is useable. Look how organic they look!
